My Final #PondathonII Readathon Wrap Up

My Final #PondathonII Readathon Wrap Up

Pondathon II: The Quiet Pond’s Story-Driven Readathon. A small spade and watering can are crossed with vines wrapped around it frame the words Pondathon II. Three little forest sprites - one with a leaf on its head, another with twigs on its head like antlers, and a mushroom on the other’s head - sit on the words ‘Pondathon’.
Since it’s been over a month since the end of the #PondathonII Readathon, I thought it would be nice to share everything I read with you! Here’s information about the Pondathon II Readathon, my updated character card, my garden, and my Final #PondathonII Readathon wrap up.

What is the Pondathon?

Pondathon II is a story-driven and gardening-themed readathon hosted and run by CW from The Quiet Pond. The aim of the Pondathon II readathon is to read books to earn plants and decorate your own little garden so that we can restore the forest together. More information about the readathon can be found here.

Pondathon II Wrap Up

Round 1: January 10 – January 29

Round Overview:

I ended up only reading two books during the timespan of round one. So for the first round I didn’t earn a badge or secret achievement reward for the side quest and I didn’t participate in the first companion quest either. But I did earn some quest rewards!

Pond Friend Side Quest

To complete this quest, I had to read books written by an author with a marginalised identity (poc and/or indigenous, disabled, LGBTQIA+ and/or gender diverse, or intersections of these) about characters with marginalised identities. Both of the books I read in round one qualified for this side quest’s  rewards.

Companion Quest

Round 2: January 30 – February 19

Round Overview:

I read four books during round two. I earned both the Sleepy Sapling badge for my character card and Gen’s Secret Achievement award. I also participated in the second companion quest.

Pond Friend Side Quest

To complete this quest, I had to read books by Black authors for Black History Month. All of the books I read in round two qualified for this side quest’s rewards.

Companion Quest

To complete this Companion Quest and receive the quest rewards, I had to post a picture food that is my soulmate with the cover of The Kindred and post it on my social media/my blog. And for the Bonus achievement, I had to also give a shout-out to The Kindred by Alechia Dow. Below is my post on twitter!

Round 3: February 20 – March 12

Round Overview:

During round three I read four books again but one of the books didn’t qualify for the side quest’s rewards. I earned Vege Buddies badge for my character card and Cuddle’s Secret Achievement award. In round three, I didn’t participate in the Past Quest and Rewards Rewind Quest.

Pond Friend Side Quest

To complete this quest, I had to read books by a woman (including non-binary women and femme) author of colour during Women’s History Month or read more books by Black authors for Black History Month. Three books I read in round three qualified for this side quest’s rewards.

Past Quest and Rewards Rewind Quest

N/A – Did not Participate

Round 4: March 13 – April 2

Round Overview:

Just like with round two and three, I read four books with one of the books not qualifying for the side quest’s rewards. I earned the Treemendous Love badge for my character card and Sprout’s Secret Achievement award. But unlike in round three, I did participate in the companion quest.

Pond Friend Side Quest

To complete this quest, I had to read books that explore themes of disability and/or is about a disabled character (including: physical, mental, and/or invisible disabilities, mental illness, neurodivergent and autistic, deaf/Deaf). Three of the books I read in round four qualified for this side quest’s rewards.

Companion Quest

To complete this Companion Quest and receive the quest rewards, I had to share a picture of my favorite drink that I like to enjoy while reading and the cover of my current read/favorite book and post it on social media/my blog. And for the Bonus achievement, I had to also give a shout-out to A Magic Steeped in Poison by Judy Lin. Below is my post on twitter!

Round 5: April 3 – April 23

Round Overview:

During round five, I read a total of five books with only two of them qualifying for the side quests rewards. I earned the Bee-ing Caring badge for my character card but did not receive a secret achievement award. In round five, I didn’t particpate in the Past Quest and Rewards Rewind Quest.

Pond Friend Side Quest…

To complete this quest, I had to read books by an autistic author or by a Muslim author (since it is both Autistic Pride Month and Ramadan). Two of the books I read during round five qualified for this side quest’s rewards.

Round 6: April 24 - May 14

Round Overview:

During round six, I read four books and none of those books qualified for the side quest rewards. So I didn’t earn a badge or secret achievement reward.

Pond Friend Side Quest…

To complete this quest, I was supposed to read books by Latine authors. I didn’t read any books that qualified for this side quests rewards.
