Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family—and from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?
Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.
The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitating toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?
Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.
Mini-Review...
They defiantly have once of my favorite meet cutes ever! I love how Dimple threw her drink on him, it was so funny!
RISHI!!! He was a character with such a kind heart, being hopeless romantic that loves comic art. What’s not to love about Rishi?!?! Rishi is a wholesome soft boy that needs to be protected at all costs!!!
Dimple is a feminist icon! I found her internal struggle of wanting to be an independent career focused woman while at the same time falling for Rishi was very interesting.
Dimple feeling that if she was in a relationship, she would have to give up her career and independence was very realistic and something so many women feel. I appreciated these feelings so many feminists feel being talked about.
Okay but the non-date date where Rishi pulled a Leonardo DiCaprio and they had a “draw me like one of your French girls” moment (though a more PG version) was just so adorable!
I loved that Dimple and Rishi had a mature discussion about sex and their feelings about it before going all the way instead of just acting on impulse and desire. I think showing characters having these mature discussions is important.
I love the Heart vs Head internal theme both Dimple and Rishi had.
