Book Blog Newbie Tag!

Book Blog Newbie Tag!

Since I’m new to the book blogging world, I thought it would be nice to introduce myself in a fun way. Then I found the Book Blog Newbie Tag on Read With Kim and decided to do this book tag. Since I’m new and I don’t know any book bloggers yet, I just tagged myself.

Why did you start this blog?

The main reason I started this blog is pretty simple. It’s because I’m so passionate about books and I really want to share my passion with people. Reading books is one of the best forms of entertainment out there and I want to share that with the world.

Fun/Unique thing you can bring to book blogging?

I’m very interested in psychology and personality typology, mostly because I like learning about how the brain works. Understanding how all of us as people are wired and how that effects what we do is also very important to me. I am also a writer who eventually wants to become a published author. Therefore, I think that the way I read might be different than someone who reads as a hobby.

As a reader and writer, I’m a big fan of characters, of character development and how real they feel when you read. Character driven stories are my favorite and if a story is just focused on plot, it’s really hard for me to be interested. In my mind, I think that what I bring to the book blogging world is different because of how I think about characters.

What are you most excited about this new blog?

Mostly, I’m excited to get to know other book bloggers and to be able to write about what I’m passionate about.

Why do you love reading?

In my opinion, nowadays reading is considered less interesting with young adults or as something they were forced to do in school. I think lots of people just watch the movie adaptation of books and think that reading the books is too much work. But I disagree.

When reading, you are not just watching what’s happening, you’re in the character’s head. You know everything they are thinking and feeling when they do the things they do. There are so many details about the world and people in the story that can’t be experienced in a movie.

I just love how books can take you away from reality and I can just be in another world for hours. Also getting to know characters as I read is so much fun because it’s almost as if I’m meeting and befriending a real person, but within the span of a couple hours to a couple days, depending on how long the book is or how fast you read.

What book or series got you into reading?

My first experience that really got me into reading was was in middle school when I read The Outsiders in English. That book made me fall in love with characters and story telling. This was my first real fangirl experience and I’ve been a fangirl of books ever since.

What Questions would you ask your Favorite Authors?

This is definitely the hardest question because narrowing down questions is so difficult! But as a fellow writer, I think my questions will be very focused about learning about their writing process and inspiration.

  • What inspired you to write your book/series?
  • What was your process of creating your characters?
  • What parts or scenes were the hardest for you to write?

Book Blog Challenges that are hardest to overcome

Keeping up a schedule to make sure I post regularly will be the biggest challenge for me. Also my own fears of not having good enough content for people to enjoy.

When did you start reading?

My earliest memories of reading was when I was 5 or 6 and was reading with my mom. But I mostly just read for school as a kid. I didn’t really get into reading till middle school but high school was when I started reading regularly and not just for school.

Where do you read?

I read in my bed most of the time… Yes, I’m totally a bed reader. But I do read on the couch if I’m alone sometimes. I prefer reading with no one around to distract me.

What kind of books do you like to read?

Mostly read YA fiction. I’m a big fan of contemporary YA, mostly romance. I also enjoy dystopian and some fantasy. But recently I’ve been interested in reading more classics. For me, what’s most important in a story is the characters. That’s why I tend to prefer reading contemporary YA because those stories are more character driven.

  1. So nice to find out more about you! I’m such a character driven reader too – I latch onto well written characters like they’re my babies. Good luck with the blog!!
