The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite book series and have always thought it would make an awesome movie or tv series. So I thought it would be fun to do a dream cast post! Even though I think it would be best to cast young talented unknowns to portray the Rampion crew, I thought it would still be fun to try to cast each character based on Merissa Meyers vision. I used this post on her blog for help.

Cinder

  On Merissa’s blog, she described Cinder as mixed(Asian/Caucasian), tan skin, brown eyes, straight fine brown hair just below shoulders, and slender with few curves. So I looked for an actress that fits close to that description as well as I could. My top picks are Chloe Bennet and Seychelle Gabriel because they both fit the description very well and I think they pull off being the cool cyborg lost princess and rightful queen of Luna that Cinder is.

  My top picks to play my favorite sarcastic but loyal and caring emperor Kaito are Mackenyu Arata and Mario Maurer. I chose them because they both look very close to the way he is described in the books and also to my own vision of him. Plus, I think they both could pull off both a grey hoodie and a crown.

Scarlet

  Merissa described Scarlet as having unruly ginger-red hair to mid-back, full lips, lots of freckles, and curvy. So I wanted to find someone that did not only have the red hair but was also had the full lips and the curvy figure. My top picks were Madelaine Petsch and Bree Kish. I don’t think Bree Kish is an actress but she looks so much like how I envisioned her based on her description. But I also think Madelaine Petsch looks a lot like Scarlet and I know she is very talented so she can definitely pull off being the awesomely strong and feisty french farm girl that Scarlet is.

Wolf

  For Wolf, I had a hard time casting this scary but soft-hearted character because I really wanted to make sure not to whitewash his character. Merissa described him as being middle eastern looking (which when looking at fanart, I don’t see often) with green eyes so I made sure to look for someone as close to that as possible. My top picks are Firass Dirani and Marlon Teixeira because they look pretty similar to what she described even though they both don’t totally match what I envisioned since they both don’t have scars all over their face and body. But whoever plays Wolf could always have fake scar prosthetics and makeup added anyways.

  Cress, the small and sweet imaginative girl that needs to be protected at all costs! My picks for Cress’s character are AnnaSophia Robb and Kiernan Shipka because they both look a lot like how I imagined her.

Elle Fanning

Thorne

  Since Thorne is almost everyone’s favorite character in the series, it was very hard for me to cast his character. I still not 100% happy with who I choose but I do think Froy Gutierrez and Sam Claflin look most like how he is described in the book. Though I personally wouldn’t care how accurately he matches the book, as long as he can pull off being the cocky but likable cadet criminal that everyone loves.

Winter

  I think Winter is one of the most complex characters in the series, so whoever does play this character is going to have to be talented. Since Winter is described as the “most beautiful girl on Luna” and has a “face that is difficult to look away from”, it was fun to cast a character that is a beautiful woman of color. My top picks are Lovie Simone and Amandla Stenberg because they are both gorgeous and talented.

Jacin

  I had the easiest time casting Jacin’s character since I just needed to find a white blonde actor who can portray both Jacin’s seriousness and also his soft side that he only has with Winter. My choices were  Alex Pettyfer and Lucas Till since I think they both could pull off Jacin’s character very well and also look ALOT like him!

Iko

  Oh, Iko! Whoever plays Iko is going to have so much fun playing her! She is the best favorite android friend ever and is so funny even when she was literally a ship for part of the series. I think that Zendaya Coleman and China Ann McClain are amazing and definitely can pull off blue braids so they both are my top picks.
